Naurooz Mubarek!

Brisbane Powerhouse and BEMAC present PLANET

2nd of April Saturday  from 5pm to 7pm.

To help with the Norooz celebarations we are programming an afternoon of Persian music at our April Planet.

On April 2nd we have an amazing line-up, including: The great soloist Arash Zangeneh,  Pezhvak featuring Cieavash  Arean, Faraz and Siroos Alavi; and also Delkash featuring Iman Falah, Amir Naderi and Mohammad Javadi.

Arash Zanganeh

Arash Zanganeh was born in Tehran in 1976. He is a Persian percussionist, composer and teacher whose work draws on Sufi traditions and Iranian folkloric music from regions such as Kurdistan, Kerend, Kermanshan, Systan and Balouchestan.  Arash’s interest in world music was ignited by his participation in the Oriental Music Exchange (Tajali Program) in India sponsored by the Iranian Cultural Attaché in New Delhi in 2000.  In the same year his recording with the great female mystic Abdeh Parwin, and the recording project Rumi in Amir Khusrau’s Land in honour of Mevlana Jaleddin and Amir Khusrau Dehlavi in India, also inspired his passion for devotional music.

Pezhvak

Pezhvak is a persian group performing traditional and folk music on the instruments which have a history of centuries such as ; Tar, Kamanche, Barbat, Ney, Dozzeleh, Daf and Tombak. Pezhvak has been performing in many festivals in Australia for more than a decade.

Delkash

Delkash ensemble was founded in January 2010 to distribute Persian classical music in Australia. Being well acquainted with the pure-bred and genuine traditional music of Iran, Delkash endeavors hard to keep this novel style alive and try to introduce it to other nations. Pieces which are practiced by this group mainly include Iranian traditional songs which are played in different Persian dastgahs as well as old folklore songs.
