The View From Madeleine’s Couch
As The View From Madeleine’s Couch head into their 11th year together, they remain one of Australia’s finest world|fusion ensembles, their energy and passion for Brazilian music undiminished. Their second album ‘Casa do Boa Vida’, has just been released through Vitamin Records. ‘Bom Fazer’, from the album is nominated in the World Music category of the QSong Awards, and ‘Palmeiras do Sul’, also from the new album, has been chosen for the soundtrack of a U.S. Indie film.
The band’s sound is as seductive as ever; from the lush, lounge-vibe of bossa nova inspired tunes, to rhythmic songs flavoured by the groups experiences in Brazil studying with master percussionists (Rio Maracatu, Durval Pereira), and playing with legends like Alberto Farah (pianist/producer/m.d. – Elza Suarez, Joyce), and Marcio Bahia (drums – Hermeto Pascoal, Hamilton de Holanda).
