Be transported straight to Turkey on the 5th November for this amazing Saturday afternoon performance at the Brisbane Powerhouse.  Featuring groups Istanbul Gypsy Groove and Silk Road Ensemble, an afternoon not to be missed! 

Istanbul Gypsy Groove – 5.00pm – 5.50pm

Istanbul Gypsy Groove are a band that perform funk reggae Mediterranean music including Turkish, Greek, European, Middle Eastern and Spanish based tunes as well as their own originals. Featuring Seckin Suerdem – Guitar & Vocals; Peter Crees – Bass Guitar; Sean Ozel – Drums, and Eren Yoltay on Keyboard & Mandolin.

Silk Road Ensemble – 6.10pm – 7.00pm

Brisbane’s newest world  music ensemble, Silk Road combines the soaring melodies of the Middle East with driving rhythms and heart-wrenching vocals. Led by singer Bilge Ozgun Silk Road brings together sounds of the Middle East, the Balkans, Central Asia and Turkey – the great meeting places between East and West. Featuring Bilge Ozgun – Vocals; Nawres Al-Freh – Arabic violin; Astra Chatwood – cello, Jordan Stamos – dakubra; Malindi Morris – drum and Matt de Boer – clarinet.
